Bear Creek Pioneers Park occupies part of Addicks Reservoir in Houston, Texas, and provides a variety of recreational opportunities, including sports facilities, hiking and horseback riding trails, a zoo, and ample picnic locations.

Brief History

1840s
German immigrants settle in the area of today's Bear Creek Park.1
1946-1948
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructs Addicks Reservoir.
1965
Harris County leases 2,154 acres of the reservoir and develops Bear Creek Park.
1985
Harris County War Memorial is built.

If you are in the area…

Great local park that is popular for area residents. The War Memorial and small zoo make the park stand out from other county parks. Watch for snakes in the woods, as I have seen some on every visit.
