Terms of Use

While we do not believe there is anything unusual or surprising in these Terms of Use (“Terms”), you should read them carefully. All visitors or users (that means you) of http://shegetslost.com (“She Gets Lost,” “this site,” “this service”) agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access this service.

She Gets Lost is owned and managed by Sarah Miller, herein referred to as “us”, “we”, or “our” (because who doesn’t like the royal “we”?).

Copyright is important. Don’t steal stuff.

Unless otherwise noted, all materials on She Gets Lost are copyright Sarah Miller, including but not limited to text, photographs, illustrations, graphics, videos, and audio recordings.

No content may be reproduced without permission of the copyright holder. She Gets Lost is not able to provide reprint permissions for copyrights held by third parties.

Third-Party Sites and Services

We are not our neighbors’ keeper.

She Gets Lost may provide links to third-party websites or services that we believe may be useful or informative to our users. These links may include but are not limited to:

  • Organizational websites, such as state or national park sites.
  • Reference material, such as Wikipedia.
  • Online shopping stores or marketplaces, such as Amazon or individual business stores.

In addition, She Gets Lost may use third-party services to enhance the features and functionality available to users on She Gets Lost. These services may include but are not limited to:

  • A website statistics service, currently Awstats, used to track and understand visitor use of the site.
  • A mapping service, currently Google Maps, used to provide interactive, map-based access to She Gets Lost content.

She Gets Lost has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policy, terms, or practices of any third party website or service, whether linked to or used on this site. You further acknowledge that She Gets Lost shall not be held responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use or reliance of any such content, goods, or services available on or through any such web sites or services.

Like virtually every modern site, we (or the services we use) use of cookies to help track and understand visitor use.

Some of the third-party services we use may place cookies, which are small digital files, on your computer to help identify and track you. These cookies may be used to understand visitor use of the site, such as by analyzing visitor use statistics, or they may be required by the third-party services in order to provide enhanced features to our users, such as the map interface.

If you do not agree to the use of cookies, you must disable that capability in your browser. Some features on She Gets Lost may work unexpectedly or not at all as a result.

Collecting Personally Identifying Information

We collect minimal personally identifying information, always with the goal of enhancing your use of this site.

She Gets Lost may directly request personally identifying information from you in order to provide a particular service. For example, you are asked to provide your name and email address when submitting the contact form. This information is used only for the purpose indicated when we collect it. For example, if you submit your name and email address via the contact form, it will only be used as required to respond to your questions or concerns; we will not automatically add you to a mailing list.

Information directly collected by She Gets Lost is not sold, traded, leased, or otherwise provided to third parties except where required by law and/or as needed to cooperate with criminal or suspected criminal investigations.

Third-party services collect additional identifying information and may use it for purposes beyond providing services to She Gets Lost.

The third-party services we use on this site may collect additional identifying information. For example, statistics platforms frequently collect IP addresses and browser information that may be sufficiently detailed to identify your individual user behavior (and potentially, but not necessarily, to personally identify you). Typically, our use of this information is in aggregate form and is used to enhance the features available to you on this site. We use visitor use statistics, for example, to understand usage trends, identify popular features, and plan for future updates to the site.

The methods the third-party services use to collect information about you and how those third-party services use your information are defined by their own Terms of Use. As noted under “Third-Party Sites and Services,” She Gets Lost is not responsible or liable for the terms of third-party service providers.

Deleting Personally Identifying Information

We are committed to your right to privacy, within the scope of our capabilities.

If you would like your personally identifying information deleted, contact us at sarah@shegetslost.com. We will delete any information directly under our control.

We are not able to delete the information collected and controlled by third-party sites or services. You must contact those services directly as described in their terms of use.
